 President's Message

Happy Birthday IAEOP Celebrates 83 years

“Still Aspiring, Still Achieving, Still Reaching for the Stars”

The Illinois Association of Educational Office Professionals was organized as the

"Illinois Association of School Secretaries" by 17 school secretaries who met in the Illinois Education Building in Springfield, Illinois, on December 27, 1940. A constitution was adopted, officers were elected and plans for future meetings were discussed. The first state meeting was held in Northern Illinois State Teachers College (Northern Illinois University) in DeKalb in the spring of 1941, and meetings have been held on a regular basis since then. The membership elected in 1980 to change the association's name to "The Illinois Association of Educational Office Personnel" and in 1996, to "The Illinois Association of Educational Office Professionals."

Throughout the 83 years and even today, we have aspired for and achieved the development of our professional and personal skills. We follow the four points of IAEOP (Service, Information, Recognition, and Fellowship) and see them in action at each of our conferences. Those who are not members, I invite you to join IAEOP, attend a conference and see how our association can help you in your professional and personal life.
